The second ground rule of Joy is that Joy is abundant. In yesterday’s post, I talked about Joy being unlimited because it is like a vibration we can generate—it’s not a finite resource.
Knowing that Joy is abundant means that you can mind your own Joy. You can find or create Joy at just about any time and so can the people in your life. You don’t own Joy and you don’t have to be good enough for Joy. Joy is just there in abundance in the world. It is available for everyone in abundance.
And that means it’s available for you in abundance.
Exercise: Take about 10-15 minutes and write two letters to yourself about what brings you Joy from two perspectives. The letters don’t need to be long—a paragraph or two is fine. And just write—don’t overthink it, if something weird comes up, that’s ok—just write it down.
First, write from the perspective of you as a child when you are about 9 years old. In the letter, tell the you who you are today about what brings you joy.
Second, write from the perspective of you at age 99. In the letter, tell the you who you are today about what brings you joy.
What do you notice about the letters? What has changed from your childhood? What’s the same? How is that the same or different from what brings joy to older you?
